There are many historical sights to see such as:The Jefferson Davis Home.

There are beautiful beaches and many outdoor activities. If you love to fish this is the place.

And don't forget the shopping. There are many shopping centers, malls and outlets.
Now the food...yummmy is all I can say. Great places I recommend are:

Tato-Nut Cafe

  • 1114 Government Street
  • Ocean Springs, MS 39564
  • Phone: (228) 872-2076

Shed Barbeque & Blue's Joint, The

  • 7501 Highway 57
  • Ocean Springs, MS 39565
  • Phone: (228) 875-9590  |  Fax: (228) 875-8522
The Shed is not a fancy restaurant; it is an experience! "Shed Heads” bring their families, sit by the bonfires, hug their kids, and eat the BEST darn barbeque on the bayou! The music is kickin', the food"s finger ...This is the best Barbeque I have ever eaten and huge portions.

Aunt Jenny's Catfish

  • 1217 Washington Avenue
  • Ocean Springs, MS 39564
  • Phone: (228) 875-9201  |  Fax: (228) 875-9201
Enjoy Aunt Jenny's pond-raised catfish, shrimp and chicken (all you can eat), served family style, while dining in our 1852 home, under 500-year-old oaks at the mouth of the Bay of Biloxi – our view is awesome!

After Hurricane Katrina many of the big old oaks and the Palms lining the median down highway 90 were uprooted or broken off. Now lining the median are sculptures using the leftover parts of the trees. They are very beautiful and a must see for anyone visiting the area.

  1. Cynthia, I am excited about your blog and would love to stay following it after this class. Don and I love to travel and we get to fly for free on SW Airlines! When I get a chance, I will send you a friend's website. He is a journalism teacher at ASU and travels to all sorts of countries I've never even heard of. He is an amazing writer....I really think you'll enjoy his site. He also publishes articles for the Az Republic Newspaper travel section.
