Branson,Missouri

Branson ,MO

We took our first vacation to Branson this past July 2011. It is a very long drive from North Carolina.

We stopped halfway and spent a few days in Nashville, TN. More on Nashville later in another post

                     The views are great..
We stayed at Table Rock Lake, which is a beautiful place. It is a very popular place for water sports of all types and fishing. There are even sights where people go snorkeling to see an old town that was covered by the lake many years ago when the dam burst.

I was disappointed with the shows.  The shows are not celebrities but people imitating celebrities or people you have never heard of before. The only show I wanted to see was Noah's Ark and it was sold out. They have another show this year in that theater from the Bible and I have heard it is also fantastic.

You must make the drive to  Sikeston, Mo and visit Lambert's Cafe, The Home of Throwed Rolls. The food is awesome and way more than one person can eat, so plan to take some with you or share a plate. The servers come around with hot fresh rolls, that they toss to you, molasses (sorghum), fried okra, black eyed peas, tomatoes and macaroni, fried potatoes and onions and this is all in addition to what ever you order , they call these the pass arounds. The server will come by every few minutes and give you as much as you want.. They have delicious fried chicken. They also serve there beverages in big huge insulate cups, which you can purchase. All refills are free. They actually will throw the roll to you.
http://www.throwedrolls.com/ check out their website, which also lists two other locations. But be prepared to wait when you go, because it is a very popular place to eat by locals and tourist. Well worth the trip and wait. Not expensive either.

The  Branson Landing is a wonderful place to shop, dine and listen to some great entertainment. They also have concerts here, www.bransonlanding.com. They have a chocolate candy shop that sells chocolate covered bacon. YUMMMMY!!!

My favorite thing in Branson was the Duck ride.

But try it all. There is something for everyone.

  1. Boston, MA also has Duck Tours. We used to do that with many of our visiting guests. When the DuckTour vehicles stopped to lights the tour guide got the riders to quack at the other cars. Pretty silly, but lots of fun!
